The Senior Adult Ministry is alive and well at Truevine Baptist Church. Our Senior Ministry is a ministry that provides services to our Seniors to show that we love them and value their wisdom, life experiences and contribution to the church and community.

The year of 2005 has been a blessed year in the activities of the Senior Ministry. We started the year with a Senior prayer breakfast in January. There was a Life Line Screening Seminar held in March to aid our seniors in protecting their health and life. Our own, Brother Averiest Gilliam made a presentation to the seniors on home security and the awareness of scams, which was very educational.

The Senior Ministry enjoyed several trips to various historical sites, including the River Oaks area in Houston, Texas to view the beautiful azaleas. There were two trips to the Brenham area to visit the Bluebell Creamery, the Cotton Gin, and a local winery, where various wines are processed. We lunched at one of Brenham's favorites, Purecell's Country Style Buffet. In July a trip was made to Palestine and a then a train trip to Rusk, Texas which culminated our trips for 2005.

A noon Bible Class is provided each Wednesday for our seniors and everyone is welcome. A noon meal where each participant alternates in bringing their favorite dish where we dine and fellowship after the one hour lesson. We are presently touring the Old Testament.

We will conclude this year with a Thanksgiving visitation in November and a gift visitation in December. A seniors' Christmas lunch is also planned in December to show our appreciation for our seniors.

Senior trips for 2006 are in the planning stage along with activities and seminars. We are looking toward an exciting year at Truevine for our seniors, and encourage everyone to participate.
